A few hours from now I will step on stage in Detroit, Michigan to announce my support for Senator Barack Obama. From now through Election Day, I intend to do whatever I can to make sure he is elected President of the United States.
Over the next four years, we are going to face many difficult challenges — including bringing our troops home from Iraq, fixing our economy, and solving the climate crisis. Barack Obama is clearly the candidate best able to solve these problems and bring change to America.

L’endorsement di Al Gore per Barack Obama, arrivato la scorsa notte (e già si parla di un posto da vice per l’ex vice), segna la svolta ambientalista della campagna elettorale di Obama proprio mentre le quotazioni del greggio vanno alle stelle e l’America dovrebbe dotarsi di una nuova politica petrolifera che vada oltre l’amicizia con i sauditi. McCain una proposta ce l’ha e l’ha annunciata ieri: autorizzare nuove trivellazioni per aumentare la produzione statunitense di petrolio, immettere sul mercato molti più barili al giorno e portare così le quotazioni al ribasso. In particolare, il senatore dell’Arizona punterebbe all’apertura di nuove piattaforme offshore (ma anche al ritiro del bando alle trivellazioni in Alaska), una ricetta che nessun ambientalista avallerebbe mai
